1989 is the culmination of American fashion designer Chaz Jordan’s childhood and experiences throughout his career.
Chaz Jordan has created his own unique way of living & moving through the world. Jordan got his start in 2011 while working at RSVP gallery alongside Virgil Abloh and Don C. both later becoming global cultural icons in the industry. At 22, he launched his first brand, Au Courant, while living in Paris. At 24, Jordan transitioned Au Courant into what would become his second brand, Ih Nom Uh Nit. Shortly thereafter, Jordan quickly built the brand into a celebrity and pop culture sensation leading to its acquisition, enabling Jordan to concentrate on his eponymous brand, 1989 STUDIO.
The brand was founded in 2021 in Los Angeles with the intention of restoring an experiential and tasteful approach within the fashion industry’s wave of new designers, while demonstrating inclusive and accessible fundamental values. Pulling inspiration from the designer’s upbringing in Chicago to his design education in Paris and the many lessons learned building globally successful brands.
