Educated at Central Saint Martin’s in London, the Malaysian-born designer’s extraordinary talent has been showcased not just in the world of fashion but also visual art events such as the Venice Biennale in 2009 and the Munich Art Festival in 2013.
Combining tone and experimental textures, Chong designs garments with a refined femininity. In tune the realities of the modern lifestyle, function and utility also play a key role in his designs, taking the self-portrait girl from work to play with ease and confidence.
In five short years, self-portrait has been worn by some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment including Kate Middleton, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kendall Jenner, Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Madonna, Kristen Stewart, Kerry Washington, Meghan Markle, Reese Witherspoon, Christy Teigen, Jaime Chung, Olivia Munn, Marion Cotillard, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Olivia Palermo, Aimee Song and Chiara Ferragni.
