Machine-A Highlights Nuba, Johanna Parv for Graduate Project

Fashion concept store Machine-A has chosen Cameron Williams, who’s behind the unisex label Nuba, and Estonian designer Johanna Parv as the recipients of this year’s Graduate Project, an annual support scheme for emerging designers and fashion students.

Stavros Karelis, founder of Machine-A, said he chose them because they both “have something ultimately new to say,” and he was deeply moved by the way Williams designs and “the fluidity on his garments, the beautiful tailoring, and the asymmetrical cuts.”

The Graduate Project also generates synergies between Machine-A and fashion business accelerator Tomorrow, and “ultimately supports a designer from every aspect of their brand,” according to Karelis.

(Tomorrow) took a majority stake in the concept store last year, added Charles Jeffrey Loverboy into its brand portfolio last March, alongside Athletics Footwear, Colville, Coperni and A-Cold-Wall, and signed a two-year worldwide distribution deal with the Berlin-based label GmbH.
