Football meets fashion

If the name Martine Rose sounds familiar in the context of women’s football, you shouldn’t be confused. In fact, the British-Jamaican menswear designer has a long history of merging fashion and sport.

"Although I’m using women to tell the story, there’s no gender attached to the suit. Anyone can wear it."

Martine Rose

Since launching her eponymous label in 2007, the brand first collaborated with Nike back in 2018 to design a capsule collection of ready-to-wear clothing and footwear. Then, in 2021, Martine again collaborated with the sportswear giant to design a genderless England supporter's shirt for the 2020 Euros (postponed for a year due to Covid).

Now, she's back again, and this time there's another familiar name – and face – involved. Yep, England captain Leah Williamson features in the new campaign for the latest Nike x Martine Rose collaboration.

"I hope one day we’re not talking about gender in sport and are just talking about the sport itself. Once everything’s been stripped back, it’s just the game that’s left."

Wearing pieces from the collab, Leah is photographed in a chic black trench coat. A white shirt collar and black blazer lapels are just visible peeking out at the neck, while tailored black trousers complete the look. And as for Leah's shoes, shiny patent brogues get an athleisure twist with Nike shox heels.

The full collection includes suiting, outerwear, tailoring, plus accessories including sunglasses, gloves, and footwear and launches on 25th July, fittingly tieing in with the Women's World Cup (although unfortunately, Leah won't be playing due to injury) that kicks off just 5 days prior on the 20th.
