Soshiotsuki Whispers Elegance in Every Fold

Fri 16 Jan

At Pitti Uomo 109, beneath the vaulted arches of Florence’s Refettorio di Santa Maria Novella, Soshiotsuki unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, a quiet dialogue between heritage and movement, where tailoring becomes both anchor and expression, honouring history while transcending it. Otsuki calls this approach “reverse importation”: Japanese craftsmanship refracted through Italian sartorial tradition, expanding its language rather than rewriting it. The FW26 thrives in this space.

Fresh from the 2025 LVMH Prize, Soshi Otsuki presents garments not as statements, but as meditative companions. Suits and shirts are cut with precision yet draped with freedom, allowing the body to inhabit the silhouette fully. Elegance here speaks softly, yet leaves a lasting impression. Pinstripes, tweeds, and satin meet corduroy, knit, and velvet in layered rhythm. Bias-cut shirts, curving collars, and hand-stitched sashiko bring warmth and humanity to precision, while collaborations with PROLETA RE ART and ASICS fuse tailoring with craft and subtle movement. Each piece flows with intuitive grace, uniting tradition and modernity.

Ultimately, FW26 reminds us that tailoring is alive: a balance of history, craft, and movement. Soshiotsuki invites elegance that whispers, not shouts, guiding how we wear, honour, and move.
