Georgie’s Review: Coperni Pre-SS21

Thu 9 Jul

When one thinks of Coperni, one tends to think of tech and science. Their A/W 20 show was presented at a tech-start up in Paris and indeed, their S/S 21 capsule certainly had the tell-tale signs - the ergonomic barely there sandals, the slim-line suiting, the curved keychains which hark of COVID-19 hand protectors - but there was also a bright, optimism at play.

“Now, Today, Tomorrow, Always", Coperni based this collection on love, or future love, something the world is in desperate need of these days. Thus, heart insignia was peppered throughout the collection. Signature streamlined suiting was given an asymmetric sweetheart neckline that exposed shoulder, as too did complimentary shirting. The now iconic Swipe bag was rendered in silver glitter and of course, came in a heart shape option or two. The curved sweetheart waistline on languid trouser a particular triumph.

A t-shirt collaboration, with artist Marc Hundley, contributes to the fight against aids with Sidaction, pushing for future love. Pops of bright neon orange gave a sci-fi feel while eluding to a brighter tomorrow too. Coperni has a knack for wearable pieces elevated with modernist curvature and line, now with hearts, they are even easier to fall in love with.
