GEORGIE’S REVIEW: MOSCHINO SS21

Sat 26 Sep

‘No Strings Attached’ says Jeremy Scott for SS21, punny, as his show this season was a brilliant puppet show, all clothes and models in miniature marionettes. In a French salon-style setting, doll versions of the top editors, Anna Wintour, Edward Enninful, Vanessa Friedman, Anna Della Russo etc, are sat taking notes, chatting between looks as usual, as the doll-versions of models strut, or rather bobble, down the runway.

The fashion is akin to the setting. Pastel pink tulle-lined full skirts, blue organza fishtail dresses, and puff-sleeve embroidered floral gowns are beautiful. Perhaps, even more arresting in miniature. Scott’s signature Moschino touches, the belted waists, leather jacket boleros and gold studs, were a welcome contrast to the couture-like frou.

It had all the traditional fashion show feelings; we still saw the clothes in motion, we still saw the close-ups of the garments but through a witty and entirely COVID-19 safe performance. Rather clever and wonderfully entertaining. However, even without the whimsy of a puppet-show, these looks were a triumph.
