Bringing The Slopes to the Street

Mon 7 Feb

Avid skier? Got the best runs of Val d'Isère bookmarked? Or maybe the powder doesn’t appeal, but the protective gear does? Either way, the avalanche of apres-ski inspired looks on the runway this season tells us that come AW22, we’ll all be packing for the piste.

From left to right: Hed Mayner, OAMC and Bianca Saunders

Puffer Jackets : Blame the wave of noughties influence, blame the Tiktokers; puffer jackets are reaching a peak in popularity. This season, it’s puffers with a punch, from ski-style straps and smooth curvatures to statement sizing and playful detailing.

Zegna, Kenzo, 4S Designs and Zegna

Alpine Knits : Sometimes all you need is a good jumper. Alpine and fair isle prints and textures ready for fireside embraces are the pieces du jour.

White Mountaineering

Salopette Stylings : No longer just for holding up your bottom half, the salopettes strap is now a fashion accent in its own right. (Although admittedly less practical.)

Louis Vuitton and Zegna

Bold, Broad Sunglasses : The bigger, the better. Sunglasses this season are visor-like with a utilitarian edge. Keep them on a neck chain for a sportier feel.

Loewe, Louis Vuitton, A-COLD-WALL* and Y/Project

Balaclavas : Another trend piece that’s been on the uptick. A bad hair day staple for chilly city-makers and an under-helmet pop of print or colour for those heading down the mountain.
