Wed 23 Jun
Anna dello Russo has selected the works – including the blankets from Colville’s Calling all Knitters project – which will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in Milan.
The second edition of Contemporary Curated , the Sotheby’s auction dedicated to contemporary works of art, lands in Milan… offer(ing) unique opportunities not only to established buyers but also to neo-collectors. Launched for the first time in New York in 2014, the format foresees both a prominent international personality to personally select the pieces of the catalog and in the past involved names the caliber of Oprah Winfrey, Kim Jones, Virgil Abloh. And if for the first Milanese edition, in 2020, Delfina Delettrez was invited , this time the choice fell on Anna dello Russo , fashion director of Vogue Japan as well as style icon, beloved trendsetter and great art lover.
…the selection curated by Anna dello Russo includes the blankets made by Colville thanks to Calling all Knitters!, the collective project with a beneficial impact developed during the long months of lockdown. The British brand born in 2018 from an idea of Lucinda Chambers and Molly Molloy and recognised as the antithesis of fast fashion had invited knitters from all over the world to use the forced closure time caused by the pandemic to contribute to the creation of five blankets , three of which will be auctioned during the Sotheby’s sale and the proceeds of which will go to CADMI – a reception centre for abused women and victims of domestic violence in Milan.
