Andersson Bell makes its debut at Milan Fashion Week – DAZED

Tue 20 Jun

The Seoul-based Andersson Bell made its Milan Fashion Week debut this season, taking over the historic Società del Giardino. With its glazed-tile flooring and corniced ceilings, the venue stood in direct contrast to all the rough-hewn, spliced-and-diced clothing that the label put forward for SS24.

deconstructed and reconstructed

Tracksuit bottoms were fronted with distressed denim shorts, denim minis were fronted with knife-pleat skirts, and acid-wash jeans were fronted with thick-twill cargo pants. Just about everything was accented with distressed hems, skew-whiff buttons, and half-and-half constructions, making it look as though the clothes had been deconstructed and then reconstructed by Frankenstein’s plastic surgeon.

Beyond the utilitarian vests, camo trousers, and multi-pocketed bombers, there was something quite sweet about the collection. Models walked with wildflowers stuffed into denim totes and leather vases, loose yarn sprouted from knitted columns, and pale aquatic gradients figured on ruched jersey dresses.
